Open-Source Database Firm MariaDB Raises $3.4M from Russia’s Runa Capital

Open-source database company MariaDB,  has raised $3.4 million from Russia’s Runa Capital. In October 2013, the firm had secured $20 million in Series B round. Till date, including this round, the company has received a total capital of $31.9 million.

As per a Gigaom report, MariaDB CEO Patrik Sallner said his firm was looking forward to collaborating with Runa and its other open-source portfolio companies in its enterprise push.

Started in 2010 MariaDB is a global software vendor specializing in being a platform between MySQL and NoSQL databases. With its head office in Espoo, Finland, MariaDB has over 500 customers in more than 30 countries worldwide. It helps companies with any of their data needs. Its clients includes Google, Fusion-io, HP, Virgin Mobile, Craigslist and more.
