Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have donated an amount of $75 million to the General Hospital and Trauma Centre in San Francisco.
As reported by Mashable, the donation will be used to complete the hospital’s acute care and trauma center which needs to be converted in an ambulatory care facility by December 2015. Along with it the donation will also be used to fund new technology and equipment.
The hospital will be renamed after Mark and his wife as the ‘Priscilla and Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center’.
The donation was inspired by the time when Priscilla Chan used to work at the San Francisco General Hospital. In October 2014, Zuckerberg donated $25 million to the Center for Disease Control Foundation to fight Ebola outbreak. During May 2014, he had donated $ 120 million to support low-income school districts in the San Francisco and San Jose areas.
