Gurgaon-based on-demand logistics startup for local brick and mortar businesses, Grofers, has secured $10 million in Series A round led by Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global. In December 2014, the company had secured funding from Sequoia Capital, thus bringing total funding till date to $10.5 million.
As per a TechCrunch report, the raised funding will be used to improve its technology, and expand its services to more cities.
Started in 2013, Grofers currently works with 250 vendors and has a total of 500,000 SKUs or individual items available for order. The company processes 30,000 deliveries a month with a fifth of those orders placed through its mobile app. It aims to enable goods delivery for offline stores via its mobile app.
Currently, the firm focuses on grocery stores, bakeries and fresh produce and also plans to add other products like electrical appliances soon. After spreading its operations in Bengaluru, it hopes to expand into other cities soon including Hyderabad, Chennai and Calcutta.
