Bengaluru-based cloud telephony firm Exotel is acquiring Singapore’s voice-based social media startup Croak.it for an undisclosed amount.

As TOI reported. “We liked the team and the product at Croak.it,“ said Exotel chief executive Shivakumar Ganesan. “There was a good overlap in the nature of the problem we were solving. Voice will continue to remain at the centre of most business communications.“

Started in 2012 by IIT graduates Protik Roychowdhury and Srinivasa Teja, Croak.it! app allows users to share their thoughts and emotions using voice known as `croaks’ instead of typing it. The app has crossed over a million recordings and two lakh downloads on iOS.

Exotel provides cloud-based telephony solutions for its customers like taxi aggregator Olacabs, bus ticketing site redBus and online lingerie retailer Zivame among others.
