Bookmyshow takes Majority Stake in Eventifier for $2M; TownScript Raises Angel Funding

To expand across the entertainment value chain, online movie and event ticketing portal Bookmyshow is buying majority stake in Bengaluru-based startup Eventifier for over $2 million in cash giving an exit to existing investors.

As per an ET report, Eventifier is expected to retain the brand and will operate as a separate entity.

Co-founded by Mohammed Saud, Nazim Zeeshan and Jazeel Badur Ferry in 2012, Eventifier raised venture capital funding from Accel Partners and Kae Capital. The company stitches archives of social media content from conferences and events across the globe and has over 1,500 clients like Pearson, UBM Tech, Clinton Foundation and NASA.

In March 2013, Bookmyshow acquired Chennai-based online ticketing portal TicketGreen. The company raised a USD 150-crore funding round in June 2014 which valued the company at over INR 1,000 crore.

Pune-based event ticketing platform startup TownScript has raised angel funding led by a group of investors including Mohit Garg (Co-Founder, MindTickle),  Mahesh Parasuraman (Managing Director- Carlyle Group), Nipam Shah (Founder, NRS Advisors) and a few others.

The firm provides the users a way to create event registration/ticketing page and mobile event app within a minute.

“In terms of business development this our main aim is to achieve a growth of 400% this year in the number of ticket sales. And also, to serve more than 5,000 small and medium size event organizers. This will require us to penetrate in all the major cities of the country.” say the founders Sachin Sharma and Sanchit Malik.
