Chinese smartphone company, Xiaomi has started selling its Redmi Note 4G handsets through Bharti Airtel stores exclusively. The company expects much better offline sale results than online sales.
As per a report by NDTV, Bharti Airtel announced the sale of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4G in six cities through 133 stores. iamWire had previously reported in November 2014 that it had announced to do so, along with its plans to launch its own e-commerce store.
Manu Jain, Head of Xiaomi in India said, “If this works out fine, we’ll expand the partnership to other cities and other devices,” as per the above mentioned report.
Around 30 percent of Xiaomi’s sales in China comes from offline stores and the company is looking at a similar strategy in India too. The company is also planning to launch its new Mi4 via offline stores. The offline sale is an important channel for the company, as it allows the customers to see and feel the phone on offer. However how will this affect the online sales remains to be seen.
