Gurgaon based Nucleus Research, the company which created the instant messaging app Yup!, has secured an amount of USD 500,000 in a seed funding round from Arun Khanna, chairman of Olive Telecom and Harsh Khanna, test lead at HTC.
The startup was founded in June 2014 by engineers Tushar Malhotra and Yogesh Huja, as according to a VCcircle report.
Yup! is a mobile messaging app which can be used to express opinions. The key features of the app include one click messaging, which translates to urgent paging and saves time. The user interface is colourful with options like choosing various themes and sounds.
It’s a privacy and permission based connect as there is no sharing of contacts with the world and it also provides the facility of block and unblock. It has the ability of work on low internet bandwidth and is easy to operate. Available for both Android and iOS users.
The app features categories such as video, news, shopping & deals, love & romance, social networking sites, jobs, etc. Since the launch, the app has seen over 2 lakh downloads.
Further now the startup is looking to raise USD 10 million in Series A round of funding, for which it has appointed a US based accounting and advisory firm Grant Thornton. The startup will use the planned future funding for marketing and to roll out the app in eight languages including Hindi, Tamil and Punjabi.
