Hero MotoCorp has tied-up with Snapdeal, for selling of two-wheelers. Launched on December 10, 2014, the two-wheelers are priced same as off-line dealerships, have attracted users attention with 700 bikes sold within 72 hours, with peak sales reaching 1 bike being sold every minute.
The tie-up between Snapdeal and Hero MotoCorp signifies the potential of e-commerce as a significant channel for automobile sales. Snapdeal did also tie-up with Mahindra & Mahindra during September to sell four wheelers online.
The Automobiles category at Snapdeal is expected to reach Rs 1,000 crores (GMV) in the near-term. The models sold as part of the launch offer include the bestselling Splendor, Passion, Glamour, Ignitor, Hunk, Xtreme and the Pleasure scooter.
A Srinivasu, Head of National Sales at Hero said “This is the first time we tried out the online platform for selling our bikes, and the response has been just phenomenal. Even for online customers, their satisfaction remains our top priority, and they are entitled to all the benefits of warranty and service.”
