Atlanta-based anonymous local messaging app, Yik Yak has raised USD 61 million series B round led by Sequoia Capital with participation from previous investors including DCM. Earlier, It had received USD 10 million in series A funding. Till date, including this round, the company has secured a total funding of USD 73.5 million. As part of the deal, it sees Sequoia’s Jim Goetz join the Yik Yak’s board of directors.
Last month, Yik Yak was in news for raising USD 62 million but now an SEC filling has confirmed that it has closed USD 60.9 million of USD 62 million, which means that there is still more than USD 1 million available in the round.
Recently, the company had also launched PEEK, a features that enables users to updates in their local universities or communities to stay connected and to access conversations.
Yik Yak was launched in 2013 by Co-Founders Will Jamieson, Tyler Droll and Brooks Buffington.
