Micromax’s Cyanogenmod smartphone is expected to be available from 18th December exclusively on Amazon. Manufacturers like Xiaomi, Motorola etc. had adopted Flipkart as their exclusive partner. Amazon seems to be the preference of other companies like OnePlus, Micromax etc. Micromax had adopted a similar strategy for Android One Canvas A1 smartphone on Amazon, while for Canvas Express, it chose Flipkart to be the exclusive partner.
Micromax YU will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core CPU with 2GB of RAM memory, and will support 4G networks in India. The phone will be powered by CyanogenMod OS, which is an Android-based operating system.
YU smartphone’s specifications will be similar to the Coolpad’s F2 Android handset and will feature a 5.5.-inch IPS display with 720×1260 pixels resolution, as per an India Today report.
The phone is expected to be available in two versions. One version will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, the other version will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6592 Octa-core Soc running at 1.7GHz clock speed. Both the versions are likely to feature 2GB worth RAM and 16GB of in-built memory with a 13MP rear and a 5MP front camera and Android Kitkat 4.4 OS with a CyangenMod layer on the top of it.
Micromax had recently signed a deal with Cyanogen for exclusive rights of CyanogenMod OS support and updates for the Indian customers, which means recently launched OnePlus One smartphone will not get future OS updates.
