Indian smart phone manufacturer Lava has signed a partnership with a Singapore based startup 6degrees to pre-install its application on Xolo brand phones.
As per an ET report, Lava covers around 8% of the smartphone market in India. And is looking forward to sell around 2.5 million phones next year, thus opening up doors to Indian market for the Singapore app.
The app 6degrees is a self updating phonebook application which helps to verify contact details, cleans duplicate entries, integrates social networks and backs itself up. People will be able to access all connections from across networks in a private manner.
It was founded by Niranjan Rao, a former Singapore based investment banker and Arun Samudrala, a Bangalore based engineer. And according to Google Playstore stats, the app has under 5000 downloads up till now.
The app is available in different languages on Android and iOS platforms. It has options to keep contacts private, and to hide from other users on the network, it is trying to recreate the phone book experience. Neither of the companies have revealed any other details of this partnership as of now, hence it is not clear what goal does Lava want to achieve through this partnership.
