Online Grocery Startup Instacart Secures USD 210M in Series A Round Led By Kleiner Perkins


California-based grocery delivery company, Instacart has raised USD 210 million in series A round led by Kleiner Perkins with participation from Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures and Canaan Partners, along with Box CEO Aaron Levie and Y Combinator president Sam Altman. Recently, the firm had secured USD 44 million in series B round at a valuation around USD 400 million.

California-based Instacart was launched in 2012 by Co-Founders Max Mullen, Brandon Leonardo and Apoorva Mehta. Previously, it had received USD 8.5 million in series A and USD 2.3 million in seed round. Till date, including this round, the company has secured a total capital of USD 264.8 million in 5 rounds from 9 investors.

Instacart operates in 15 different markets, including San Francisco, New York City, Denver, Houston, Boulder and Portland. Also, it has over 500,000 items from local stores in its catalogue and directly competing with AmazonFresh and Fresh Direct.
