Top 10 Most Searched Gadgets in the Year 2014

Google recently released the annual list of top searches in  2014. Among that was the list of the most searched consumer electronics this year, globally. Turns out that smartphones dominate this market as against other gadgets, probably because of the massive demand, options available and the ease of buying them online in comparison with all the other devices that fall under the category of consumer electronics. Have a look at the top trending gadgets of this year.

1. iPhone 6

Apple launched iPhone 6 in the US and in 8 other countries on September 19 and in India on October 17, along with iPhone 6 Plus. In India, the device was released at a starting point of INR 53,500. iPhone measures 4.7″ diagonally and is powered by the Apple-designed A8 chip, with a Dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU. It has an 8 MP iSight camera and 1.2 MP secondary camera, and has iOS 8 operating system.

2. Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung released Galaxy S5 in April 2014 in price range between INR 29,000-51,042. The device comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, accompanied by a 2GB RAM. It comes with Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS and has a 16MP primary camera, with a 2MP camera at the front for video calling functionality.

3. Nexus 6

Motorola is the maker of the latest member of Nexus phone series. The phone comes with a 5.96-inch display and is powered by a Snapdragon 805 quad-core 2.7 GHz processor with 3GB RAM. It has a 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. Available in two colours, black and white, and in 32 GB, 64 GB versions, at a starting price of INR 43,999

4. Moto G

Motorola mobility had unveiled its smartphone Moto G in November last year for USD 179 in more than 30 countries. The phone has a 4.5-inch HD display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU.

It has a 5MP rear camera and 1GB RAM with 8 and 16GB internal memory respectively. Moto G has 19 customization options, including interchangeable Motorola Shells and Flip Shells in seven colors as well as Grip Shells in five colors. While the phone has been discontinued now, it’s 2nd Gen version is available for INR 12,999.

5. Samsung Note 4

Samsung Electronics had announced the Galaxy Note 4 in September this year at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. Samsung Note 4 comes with a QHD display on a 5.7 inches AMOLED Display. It comes with two processor versions, 2.7 GHz quad core and 1.9 GHz Octa-core processor with 3GB RAM, and 32GB memory space, expandable upto 64 GB.

Samsung Note 4 has 16 megapixel rear-facing camera and 3.7 megapixel front-facing camera. The Galaxy Note 4 has a Li-ion 3,220mAh battery along with Fast Charging. It has an Ultra Power Saving Mode to preserve battery. It is available for INR 56,399 in India

6. LG G3

LG had launched its flagship smartphone LG G3 on July 25 in India . Available in available in silk white and metallic black color at a price of INR 46,990 for 16GB model and the 32GB at INR 49,900.

It comes with a 5.5 inch QHD display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 and powered by a Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.46GHz. Its other features includes 2GB RAM for its 16GB version & 3GB of RAM for its 32GB version. The device has a 13-megapixel camera and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

7. Xbox One

Microsoft launched Xbox One last year in November. Xbox One was released across North America, several European markets, Australia, and New Zealand on November 22, 2013, and later in 26 in September 2014.

It features an octa-core processor based on AMD’s Jaguar design, 8GB of RAM and 500GB of hard drive storage. Its connectivity options include USB 3.0 ports; gigabit Ethernet; plus, three separate 802.11n radios to allow the console to communicate with its controller (over a form of WiFi Direct) as well as other devices (such as other Windows-based phones and tablets). It is available for INR 39,999 in India.

8. Apple Watch

Apple Watch is a smartwatch created by Apple Inc., announced by Tim Cook on September 9, 2014, along with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It features fitness tracking and health-oriented capabilities, as well as integration with iOS and existing Apple products and services.

The smartwatch is scheduled to be available in three models, with a variety of case and band options. The Apple Watch is compatible with the iPhone 5 and later iPhone models running iOS 8.2. The device is scheduled for release in early 2015.

9. Nokia X

Nokia X was released in February 2014, it offers dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) support, a 4-inch IPS LCD display with a 480×800 pixel resolution and is powered by 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, alongside 512MB of RAM. It sports a 3-megapixel rear camera and also comes with 4GB of in-built storage, and can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It is available at a price of INR 8,500.

10. iPad Air

The iPad Air was announced on October 22, 2013. It was released in space gray and silver colors on November 1, 2013. The device having 9.7-inch display, packs in the 64-bit Apple A7 processor and is available with 16, 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal flash memory, with no expansion option.

The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB iPad Air Wi-Fi only models are priced at INR 42,900, INR 49,900 and INR 56,900 respectively. The 16GB iPad Air with cellular connectivity is priced at Rs. 44,900. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models are priced at INR 51,900, INR 58,900 and INR 65,900 respectively.
