Google India has released the annual list of top searches in India 2014. This year IRCTC tops the list of Google searches. And just like last year Flipkart is making a trend to still be the highly searched e-commerce website in India, followed by Snapdeal.
The Google search shows the list of searches on year’s biggest interest, major events and top trending searches that ruled the web in India 2014. Elections, FIFA 2014 and iPhone were among the top notch searches making trend on Google India.
However, PM Narendra Modi ranked second after Sunny Leone in the most searched personalities on Google India making Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif rank 3 and 4 respectively. Strangely, Sunny Leone does not find a place in the most searched female actors Google India list.
Ragini MMS tops the list of trending searches in the movies category. Followed by Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ on rank 2 in the chart, and Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ ranked 4 in the list.
In the tech devices area Moto G topped the chart with iPhone 6 on second position and Samsung Galaxy S5 at third. Since Xiaomi’s entry was late in India it secured 7th position for itself in the chart. Agreeing with the trends, Moto G is also the most popular Android smartphone in India, according to Android consumption report 2014.
As evident from the Google Trends graph above, Flipkart indeed led the search volume race as against other marketplaces in the country. Moreover the searches for online marketplaces shot up during the Diwali sale period, which, like data suggests was even more popular than the recent GOSF.
