Dropbox Opens Up its API for Businesses


On Wednesday, Dropbox has announced the launch of its Dropbox for Business API to allow companies to deeply integrate the cloud storage service in their workflows and operations.

Dropbox Platform offers integrations with more than 300,000 apps which are already aimed at businesses and the Dropbox for Business API allows for additional functionality for enterprise users.

“The new API is a good step for Dropbox’s continued move into the enterprise, as it facilitates broader integrations with important business processes,” aid Alan Pelz-Sharpe, Research Director at 451 Research.

The company introduced this new API to provide business with better tools to satisfy business compliance standards and to add support for IT processes. It is focuses on eDiscovery & legal hold, Security information and event management (SIEM) and analytics, Data loss prevention (DLP), Digital rights management (DRM), Identity management & single sign-on (SSO), Data migration and backup, and support for custom workflows through the services like IBM WebSphere Cast Iron.
