Amazon-owned Twitch to Acquire GoodGame


Amazon-owned video game-streaming site, Twitch has agreed to acquire GoodGame, Humberg-based a full-service agency focused on gaming and eSports. The other terms and conditions are still undisclosed. GoodGame’s CEO, Alex Garfield, announced the news via a post called ‘Why I Sold GoodGame to Twitch‘ on the company website.

He said, “As a part of Twitch going forward, we’ll be working with players, teams, tournaments, and content creators to help them grow their careers and businesses.

According to Twitch, “The acquisition will allow Twitch to harness GoodGame’s unique service package, as well as its staff’s industry expertise and community leadership, in order to offer an even broader array of support and monetization opportunities to the greater Twitch community.”

Twitch further stated that GoodGame will help broadcasters to monetize their work effectively via advertisements, sponsorships, and merchandising.

Twitch was acquired by Amazon in August this year for a deal amount of USD 970 million. It is known as a social video platform and a community for gamers. The company has launched mobile apps for iOS and Android. Also, it supports live game play videos that can be streamed from playstation 4 consoles and microsoft Xbox. On Tuesday, Twitch Xbox One app also saw a new feature allowing users to associate real-time statistics with Twitch broadcasts.

GoodGame was started in 2009, provides an entertainment software studio platform to design and develop online games. The company claims that its game played by over 190 million players in almost 200 countries in more than 24 languages worldwide.
