Flipkart Ties Up with Yahoo India to Power Yahoo Shopping

Yahoo and Indian e-commerce retailer Flipkart announced a tie-up on Thursday under which Yahoo users can directly shop on Flipkart by being on Yahoo home page. Yahoo will host a direct gateway on its India home page upon clicking the shopping tab. Users can access the joint Yahoo and Flipkart marketplace here.

As reported, Flipkart’s Online Marketing Sr. Director Mausam Bhatt said, “Flipkart and Yahoo are both market leaders in their own space – a partnership like this helps bridge content and commerce to enhance the product discovery and purchase cycle for online shoppers.”

The joint page is essentially Flipkart’s portal itself, with a navigation option to go back to browsing on Yahoo. Besides Yahoo’s branding in the header, not much difference is there at the moment. While Flipkart also owns fashion portal Myntra, there is no news about its future inclusion in this partnership.

Flipkart recently bought Myntra and now this new partnership is also significant to compete with Amazon India and Snapdeal. It will be interesting to see how this tie-up with the International Internet company takes Flipkart ahead of its competition.
