Mobile Gaming Start-up Scopely Raises USD 35 million in Series A


California-based, mobile game publisher Scopely has raised USD 35 million in Series A round led by Evolution Media Partners, Highland Capital Partners, with participation from Knoll Ventures, Greycroft, The Chernin Group, and Sands Capital Ventures.

As per a Reuters report, the new funding is expected to be used to produce new games and invest further in building out the technology behind its games distribution network. Previously, the company had secured USD 8.5 million in 2012.

Scopely currently has 100-250 employees and also plans to hiring new talent. The company has doubled its revenue in the last six months. Founded in 2011, as a venture of Co-founders Eytan Elbaz,  Ankur Bulsara, Walter Driver and Eric Futoran. The company develops its own games and also publishes games developed by others.

Scopely’s games include Disco Bees, Dice With Buddies, Slots Vacation, Skee-Ball Arcade and Mini Golf MatchUp, which ranked among the top 5 games on Apple Inc’s app charts.

Digital Advertising Platform Simpli5d Secures Pre-Series A Funding Led by Your Nest Angel Fund


Simpli5d, a digital advertising company has secured pre-series A  funding led by Your Nest Angel Fund with participation from Udaan Angel Partners. The raised funding will be primarily used for building the team, product & infrastructure enhancement and expanding operations to new geographies, reports NextBigWhat.

The company operates digital ad platforms like NLPCaptcha, NLPVideo and NLPMobile for audience engagement. Gurgaon-based, Simpli5d Technologies was started by Amit Mittal and Sidharth Oswal in 2012, currently working with more than 300 publishers and 70+ national and global advertisers which include brands like Visa, Lufthansa, P&G, Cadbury, Axis Bank, Idea Mobile and Samsung.

Last Mile Logistics Blowhorn Closes Seed Funding by Unitus Seed Fund

Bangalore-based Blowhorn, an online marketplace for last mile logistics has closed seed round investment led by Unitus Seed Fund with participation from with participation from Tim Draper, founder & managing partner of Draper Associates.

As per an ET report, the company is expected to use new funds for expanding its services. Founded by Mithun Srivatsa, and Nikhil Shivaprasad earlier this year, the early early-stage start-up offers a platform that connects mini-truck owners to customers.

Used by both consumers and by truck owner/drivers, the start-up provides its services on-demand along with an additional provision for future bookings.

This is Unitus’ fifth investment this year and recently it had invested in Bangalore-based start-up mGaadi, which claims to have more than 9,000 drivers on board.
