Amazon is planning to enter into travel e-commerce and is expected to launch its own travel service for booking hotels and resorts in major cities. The initial roll out of Amazon Travel will go live around January 1 for selected number of hotels within a few hours’ drive from New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
As per a Skift report, the participating hotels and resorts would pay a standard 15% commission to Amazon for the prepaid bookings and their properties would get notified by the Amazon via email of bookings.
