The organizers have also roped in star players like Alessandro Del Piero, Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg, Luis Garcia to add more value and star attention to this highly anticipated league. Italian World Cup Winner Marco Materazzi joined Chennai as player manager whereas; the Brazillian football legend Zico will manage Mumbai and Goa respectively.
Jerome Valcke, the Secretary General of FIFA said “India has a lot of potential and ISL will work as a helping hand to develop football culture in the country.” He further says “We have given a huge responsibility to India to organize Under-17 World Cup in 2017 which is a huge milestone in its own.”
