HTC has launched a RE camera controlled by an app called GoPro that works on both Android and iPhone. It looks like a tiny periscope and is priced at USD 199. RE is expected to be available through HTC, Amazon, Best Buy and U.S. carriers, it is available for pre-order on HTC’s website.
It comes with a 16MP ultra wide-angle 146 degree lens, 820 mAh battery, FHD video recording, 32MB ROM/256MB DDR RAM with microSD and connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) with microUSB port.
As per a TechCrunch report, it has no off switch and only a large silver button to control both still camera and video capture. According to the company it’s water proof allowing users to take ‘underwater selfies’. After downloading the GoPro app, that will be available soon, users can access to all the videos and photos they capture with RE, and can use their phone as a remote viewfinder app and shutter trigger.
HTC is also planning to release a live streaming feature soon.
