In order to strengthen its foothold in Indian Mobile Internet Space, the US-based firm, Google is expected to enable faster search on slow mobile network by using a new streamlined version of its search results page.
Increasingly, people in India are accessing the Internet through mobile devices such as their smartphones. However, not all of these devices come with fast, cheap connections, said Software Engineer Bharat Mediratta in a blog post. This is just another step Google is taking to organize the world’s information and make it accessible to everyone, including those who do not have fast mobile connections.
Last month, the company had launched its Android One initiative in India with partnership with three handset makers — Micromax, Karbonn and Spice with an aim to bring affordable smartphones to a large number of peoples. It is also planning to add more options for searches in local languages in the country. At present, It has search options for PCs in nine languages.
Apart from this, Google expects to roll out voice-based search in Indian regional languages in the future.
