Samsung, at Europe’s annual tech conference in Berlin, IFA, launched its four products viz. Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, Gear S and Gear VR.
As mentioned by Forbes’ Jay McGregor, Note 4 comes with a lock screen that can be personalized and a transparent widget that allows the user to view what’s happening at the background. Increased flexibility and accuracy are other added features. Where Note Edge proved innovative with its curved screen, Samsung Gear S now supports 3G and gives a ‘techy’ look to the user’s wrist.
Samsung Gear VR is a virtual reality headset, built in partnership with Oculus. When paired up with the new Note 4, it turns the phablet into a virtual reality machine that can be used for watching movies or gaming. However, it does not support any other smartphones.
Also, Ben Gilbert of Engadget pointed out some flaws in the set, wherein handling of phone notifications brings out to be a major issue. Although, Samsung is aware of the problem, but the team seems dicey on pushing the final decision. Other VR devices which already exist in the market include Google’s Cardboard, Sony’s Project Morpheus and Facebook’s Rift.
The pricing for all the products is yet to be disclosed. Where Note 4 is set to get launched in October this year, other products will be available later this year.
