Android Continues to Grow in India; Micromax overtakes Samsung

Over the past one year, Android user base in India has increased by 160 percent, according to a latest report on State of the Android Mobile Web in India by Opera Software. The report is based on statistics gathered from millions of users of the Opera Mini mobile web browser.

As highlighted in the report, Micromax (30%) has overtook Samsung (25%)  in the category of the top 100 handsets used with Opera Mini. The users prefer to log into Facebook pages, watch videos and do online shopping.

Wherein YouTube leads the video category, among shopping sites Flipkart is the leader, followed by Amazon and Snapdeal. Online classifieds websites are also becoming more popular among users. The category jumped 150%, with Quikr in the lead, followed by OLX and Sulekha.
