Google might soon be launching some of its services with child-centric version to provide kids with their own Google account. According to a a report by The Information Monday, this move is expected to help the younger users to get their own accounts for Google products, such as YouTube, along with “child safe” versions of the same.
According to company’s current age requirement, one has to be at least 13 years old to officially obtain a Google account. With this new change, the company might start asking the user’s age while signing up for a Google account. It will send a dashboard application to the parents for monitoring the activities of their children on Google services.
So, this initiative will help in increasing the Google’s user base, especially among children as, their activities are handled by parents.
When Mashable asked to a Google spokesperson about this move, then he said: “We don’t comment on rumor or speculation.”
Since already many kids must be having Google accounts with false information. It isn’t clear how will Google ensure the authenticity of data people are providing while signing up.
