Bhartiya Janta Party plans to launch a multimedia messaging service called Bhajapa Samvad Setu before the local body elections in Indore, as per an Indian Express report. It is going to come with informative messages for the people, as well as features to exchange text, audio-video and photos
“We are developing a multimedia messaging service on the lines of WhatsApp to be called Bhajapa Samvad Setu,” a senior office bearer of the BJP’s state level information technology cell said on condition of anonymity.
At present, the service is at the testing stage and if all goes well, then this multimedia messaging service would be launched before local body elections, he said.
He said that during the last Lok Sabha and assembly polls, the party extensively used the WhatsApp platform, but because of a large number of messages appearing on it, many a times, the youth avoided looking at them.
“We want a large number of youth to see our messages and therefore we have decided to develop our own messaging service,” he said.
The BJP plans to launch this service on the lines of WhatsApp, but its not clear that the service will be used for internal use or as a tool to engage with others.
It seems like after social media, BJP has found Instant Messaging to be the right channel to reach out to the youth of the country. Looking at this tech-savvy approach of the ruling party, one can wonder what other out of the box approach does it have in mind.
More from Indian Express: Commenting on the proposed service, State Congress Chief Spokesperson K K Mishra said it would prove to be a flop service like cheap Chinese mobile phones and people would not get into the BJP’s “trap” this time.
