Mobile Accelerator Tandem Introduces Four New Startups: Plans to Launch 6 More Later this Year

Silicon-Valley’s Mobile Acceleration Fund, Tandem has unveiled four new startups to expand its size. In the past, it had launches three startups: Tile, Bash Gaming (acquired recently by GSN), and Zecter/ZumoDrive (acquired by Motorola) in each class but at present, there are a total of four companies. 

During sharing his views about new fund & new partner in a Blog Post, Co-Founder Doung Renert said, “We had been investing in 3 new companies per quarter, and our goal is to be backing 6 per quarter by the end of the year. This quarter we invested in 4 startups – a first step towards our next goal which will result in 12 active companies working inside Tandem at a time for a total of 24 per year (a typical startup works with Tandem closely for 6-months).”

According to a Regulatory Filling  Tandem had secured USD 53.7 million of a targeted USD 100 million. Also, it had invested in 13 companies including USD 1.2 million in Appington, USD 1.1 million in UpOut, USD 200K in Nokori, USD 200k in Tile, USD 540K in Sift and much more.

In its current team, Tandem is having 8 members who support and help grow the companies within their Mobile Acceleration program. 

Renert said, “The firm is still looking to invest USD 200,000 in mobile startups and will make up “25 to 30 percent of Tandem businesses” moving forward.” Based on a business’s growth and the value that it creates for others, Tandem will invest millions more.

Here are the four startups:


The mobile app platform maker, Arbiter, supports in-app, real-money betting for skill-based games. The team hails from Las Vegas came to Tandem from BoostVC incubator for bitcoin startups. 


This is a team from Mexico City that applied to Tandem for three straight quarters before getting admitted after they completed the 500Startups program. The startup provide a social commerce service for women who love shoes.


The startup had started with an “always-on” screen embedded in a smartphone cover, and now Tandem is working with them to extend the screens to many other devices.


Caarbon is building a smartphone app for valet parking. this app will provide a convenient service from trusted providers, all controlled simply from your smartphone.

The deadline for apply the next applications is July 13.
