Justdial to Expand to Emerging Markets

JustdialMobile and Online listings business JustDial has released its quarterly report, it plans to extend its services in emerging markets where the “potential for such kind of services is high”. But, some specific information such as where the firm is expected to launch and mention its services are still undisclosed, as reported by Medianama.

According to JustDial US website, the company plans to launch its services in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Currently, it has offices in US & Canada. Also, JustDial is looking to terminate its agreement with group company Justdial Global to operate in US & Canada markets through its subsidiary Just Dial Inc (USA).

Post termination, the parent company,  JustDial Limited is expected to retain the license to operate in all markets. JustDial had replaced Google Maps with its own maps solution JD Maps and launched its online transaction platform Search Plus Services in December last year. The company claims to have 20 search plus services live on the platform including  cab booking, doctor appointments, grocery shopping, flower delivery along with online bus ticketing, hotel reservations, tour packages and car rentals.

In December last year, it had tied up with 85,000 vendors and at present claims to have 140,000 vendors across various search plus services, this year. This includes around 28,000 restaurants for food delivery & table reservation services.

Medianama says: JustDial has also informed BSE it has been authorized by the company board to consider and evaluate the acquisition of Just Dial Inc from Just Dial Global.The board has authorized JustDial CFO Ramkumar Krishnamachari and Deputy CFO K. Srinivas to evaluate a detailed strategy and the viability of such acquisition.

JustDial CFO Ramkumar Krishnamachari had earlier mentioned that they are now out of Google ecosystem as far as maps are concerned. This was important since JustDial essentially competes with the Internet giant in terms of business listings. With plans to expand its international presence, it would’ve been more critical for JustDial to pull out data out of Google.

JustDial founder and CEO VSS Mani had earlier mentioned that the idea behind search plus was to get as many local businesses as possible to make it addressable to every zip-code.

– Operating revenue increased by 29% (Y-o-Y) to 135.03crore from 104.56 crore

– Net Profit marginally increased to 28.11crore from 28.03crore.

– Net Profit margin was 19% in Q1FY15 as compared to 25% in Q1FY14

– JustDial had an one-off spend of around 10crore on advertising and data/ content acquisition during the quarter, because of which the overall listings grew to 14.1 million.

JustDial is conducting approximately 277,950 campaigns for its paid advertisers as compared to 221,500 campaigns as of June 30, 2013, representing a Y-o-Y  growth of 26%.
