For the first time in India, Google is expected to held a five-day event named Launchpad – slated in the first week of November, to mentor 25 startups directly. The company will include topics like marketing, design thinking and business development.
“It will be a first of its kind in Asia. It may then be rolled out to places like Tokyo,” said Sunil Rao, country head of startup ecosystem at Google India.
The event will be organized at Google’s Bangalore office where the company employees will share their industry expertise with the startups. Earlier this week, a similar program was launched by the company in Brazil where each day is dedicated to a specific subject and includes presentations, one-on-one mentorship and focused work.
The focus of the Launchpad is not to pick companies for future investments. said by Google executives. Till now, Google Ventures has not invested in India-based company and Google Capital has invested in San-Francisco-Headquartered company Freshdesk. (As reported by Economic Times)
