After foraying into fashion and lifestyle category with the launch of fashion jewellery and watches store, Amazon has now increased its offerings with an introduction of new categories i.e. shoes, clothing & accessories for kids. All the products are available on the website www.amazon.in , and has different brands like Levi’s, Puma, Ruff, Barbie and Little Kangaroo in this new section.
Girls clothing has been categorised into Tops & Tees, Shorts, Dresses, Skirts and Trousers. Whereas for boys clothing, the company has different categories such as T-shirts, Shorts, Shirts, Denims, Trousers etc.
Recently it had launched ‘Denim Hangout’ and men’s innerwear stores on its marketplace including Indian and International brands.
With this launch, the company will include more than 15 million product across categories. Till date, the company has made investment in 26 companies including Living Social, Yummy77, Songza, Videolicious and much more. Also, it has acquired 45 companies such as Comixology, Double Helix Games, Gopago, Screentech, Liquavista, Goodreads etc. It is backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers venture capital firm and had raised USD 8 million in series A round in 1995. The company went public on May 15,1997.
