The music streaming portal, have announced on Thursday in a blog post, the arrival of its iPad app. Until today, to find and use Beats Music on an iPad, users had to download the iPhone app to their iPad and use the small-screen version on the bigger screen. Now, the app has been optimized for the larger tablet screen, both in portrait or landscape.
All the features from the iPhone app — Just For You, The Sentence, Highlights, Playlists by Genre, Activity, and Curators — plus the ability to find artists, albums tracks, and playlists bookmarked for later are included in the iPad app.
Listeners can change their profile, make a playlist and share it with the world, as well as download music to the iPad to listen on the plane or anywhere, even if there’s no Internet connection.
BeatsMusic, a San Francisco, CA based music streaming service was launched in beta in 2013. The company, however began its operations in the beginning of year 2014. It also acquired Topspin Media, a marketing software and service provider for artists and creative professionals two months back. The portal is a venture of Jimmy Iovine and Trent Reznor.
The team aims at making music available in all places and in all forms fans desire. It is climbing up the iTunes charts lately and has become one of the most downloaded music-streaming apps, according to Billboard. The company is currently competing with free music streaming apps like spotify.
In India, music streaming services are struggling to a large extent. Recently subscription based service Dhingana got acquired by Rdio. Also, Spotify is getting difficult to generate a user base in India, while it is quite successful globally. Other portals like Gaana and Saavn and are mostly sustaining their operations with the financial backing from investors.
