TrendMicro partners with Facebook for detecting online malware

Trend Micro, has recently  announced that it has extended its partnership with Facebook to create a royalty free security solution called Trend Micro Housecall.

The new product will help over a billion facebook users with a more secure online experience by detecting malware and keeping their devices safe. As a popular platform for personal interaction, Facebook is an easy target for cybercriminals and spammers.

HouseCall will be integrated with Facebook’s existing systems to mitigate these cyber threats, ensuring user security and privacy.

Dhanya Thakkar, Managing Director, India and SEA – Trend Micro,  said that Housecall will be an additional safeguard against any malicious attacks caused by online interaction.

Suspected and threatened users shall be notified of the breach, and given the option to download the free version of HouseCall. It will also check and remove the malware. Users who have already downloaded it will be alerted after a detailed scan, if any threats were detected. Users can access their accounts and continue activity even during the scan process.

Starting today, all Facebook users will have the option to download the free version and check for any malware.
