LG revamps G3, plans to ship 10M+ units

LG electronics revealed a compact version of its flagship product G3, on Wednesday, according to an Economic Times report. The previous version of the series- The G2 mini debuted in Feb. 2014. Also, as stated, the company is planning to ship around 10 million units, in order to improve its degrading handset business.

It comes with a 5.5-inch AH-IPS LCD QHD (1440×2560 pixel) display with almost twice the resolution of its G2 predecessor with 538 pixels per inch. It also features laser focus for the camera along with an added metal film to the rear plastic cover to offer a polished metallic look. It is powered by Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat and a single-sim configuration.

Also, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera with 2GB  RAM for 16GB built-in storage variant and 3GB of RAM for its 32GB variant.

Initially, LG G3 has been launched in six cities with prices revealed only in Australia (AU$799 or USD 740 ) and Singapore (S$868 or USD 690 ) only.

Motorola launches its bamboo back variant in India

The company has finally launched in India its most talked version of Moto X smartphone with a bamboo back, per a Times of India report. The initial price has been set at INR 25, 999. And like all others, this model will also be available on Flipkart only.

There has been no change in the features. It comes with Android 4.4 operating system, 2GB RAM, 4.7 inch display, 1.7GHz dual-core processor and 10MP camera.

The device is pre-loaded with the Migrate app, which makes it easy for the users to transfer data like photos, call logs, sms, etc. Also, it comes with a ‘always on’ voice assistant to follow user commands.

Philips forays into Indian mobile segment, launches 3 Android models

Philips, after its acquisition by China Electronics Corporation (CEC) in 2007, has re-entered into the Indian mobile market.  To begin, the company has launched three smartphones with dual sim capability and Android 4.2 OS viz. W6610, W3500 and S308. Also, it has launched a feature phone called E130, priced at INR 1,960.

Philips W6610: With a price tag of INR 20, 650, it has 5-inch qHD display, 1GB RAM and 5,300mAh battery.

Philips W3500: It has been priced at INR 16, 195. It comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage with a microSD card slot, 5MP rear camera and 2MP camera in the front.

Philips W3500: Priced at an affordable range of INR 8, 290, the smartphone comes with 4-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It also has 5MP camera at the back but 0.3MP camera in the front.
