Yahoo eyes TV ad dollars with half-hour comedy series

Marissa Mayer is all set to foray into TV length shows with its two half-hour original comedy series, to be launched next year, as per a MoneyControl.com report. The company has also partnered with event-ticketing firm Live Nation, with an aim to live stream concerts.

For long, Yahoo was keen on improving its online video capabilities. As revealed in a recent presentation, an amount of USD 68 billion is expected to spend by US advertisers on TV this year. Yahoo plans to capitalize on this opportunity and has also partnered with comscore to validate campaigns’ demographic targets, per AdAge’s Tim Peterson.

The TV series would be titled “Other Space” and “Sin City Saints” and each would contain 8 episodes. All episodes will be released on Yahoo’s website at once.

Apart from these, Yahoo is also reportedly working on other shows such as an interview series with global news anchor Katie Couric, World 3.0, Now I Get It, and more.
