Snapdeal acquires product discovery startup Doozton

Doozton, a social product discovery and a product recommendation platform has recently been acquired by online marketplace Snapdeal. Keeping the terms of the deal undisclosed, Doozton has put a notice on its homepage saying “doozton.com is now part of India’s largest online marketplace”.

“The technology built by Doozton will enable an artful and personalized way of listing and suggesting fashion merchandise on Snapdeal, making the acquisition fruitful for burrs and sellers on the platform. At Snapdeal, we have seen a 10x growth in our fashion categories in the last 12 months, and we foresee the benefits of this acquisition will further boost this growth,” Rohit Bansal, co-founder at Snapdeal told Techcruch. 1.jpg

Doozton is a personal stylist/wardrobe consultant for online shoppers that helps customers to pick right clothes for various occasions, as per their look. With its affiliate model, Doozton offers a functionality to Dooze (or like) a product and recommend it to others and add products into their account’s wardrobe to purchase later.

To deliver a more personalized selection experience, the portal allows users to connect/follow with favorite trendsetters/stylists specifically. The trendsetters or stylists are private fashion designers who add their expertise and help shoppers choose best products. Doozton was launched in March 2013 by Pushpendra Singh an IIT Roorkee alumni.

Recently the trend of providing designers’ feed has been witnessed in the online shopping industry. Other players that Doozton is competitg with include Voonik, Palet.ly and more.
