NY based social media analytics firm raises $40M

Sprinkler, in order to fuel its projected growth of 300% this year has raised a series D round led by ICONIQ Capital. Existing investors viz. Intel Capital and Battery Ventures also participated in the round.

The total funding with this round has come to USD 77.50 million. Earlier the firm raised three rounds of funding viz. USD 5 million (Series A, 2012), USD 15 million (Series B, Feb. 2013) and USD 17.50 million (Series C, Nov. 2013).

Founded in September 2009, this venture is an initiative of Ragy Thomas. The platform offers brands a social infrastructure of 15 modules to manage their social customer experience. It provides support for platforms such as Twitter, facebook, Youtube, FourSquare, Tumblr, LinkedIn and more.

The clients include brands such as Samsung, Dell, Cisco, Castrol and more.

Recently, the company has also launched an integrated paid media solution. This will give brands and their agencies the ability to plan, execute, and optimize their paid activities on social media channels in the same environment as their owned and earned engagement.

The global BI and analytics market has been predicted to reach USD 20.8 billion in 2018 by Global market research and consulting company, MarketsandMarkets. Also, with the evolution of GenC- Always connected, EveryWhere Connected, and the increased usage of mobiles for social media activities, the market for social media analytics offers number of opportunities.
