IBM, on Monday, has launched a new cloud marketplace to provide a single online destination to its vast portfolio of cloud capabilities and third-party services. The move aims at simplifying experience for three key user groups within the enterprise – developers, IT managers and business leaders.
The portal will offer the users, an opportunity, to capitalize on IBM’s global business partner ecosystem and the growing USD 250B cloud market. Also, it will offer its partners a network of channel partners in its ecosystem to generate new revenue streams driving cloud innovation.
Via the marketplace, Clients can access a full suite of IBM-as-a-Service with 100 SaaS applications, IBM’s Bluemix platform-as-a-service with composable services, the powerful SoftLayer infrastructure-as-a-service and third party cloud services.
With the start of year 2014, IBM has taken several initiatives in order to enhance its cloud portfolio. This includes investments such as Softlayer (USD 1.2 B), BlueMix (USD 1 B) and launch of new business unit, i.e. the Watson Group (USD 1 B). Also, the acquisition of Aspera and Cloudant, brought the total to USD 7 Billion invested in 17 cloud acquisitions since 2010.
