Big Data startup Frrole has raised USD 245,000 in angel funding from investors including Sharad Sharma (former head of Yahoo! R&D centre in India), Google’s India MD Rajan Anandan and Eka Software founder Manav Garg.
According to a report by TechCrunch which first broke the news, the deal happened via LetsVenture which is a collaboration platform to raise funding for startups.
Bangalore based Frrole is a big data startup specializing in analysing Twitter data. Its inhouse data capabilities analyze Twitter data city by city by filtering out the noise and aggregating out the most useful and popular tweets.
The startup analyses over 10 million tweets daily and has sifted through over 100 million tweets since January this year.
“We have built a decent system, but it is far away from competitive scale yet (we work with around half a billion tweets a month, Twitter has half a billion everyday). It works ok for us as we have started with focus on India market, but we are super-aggressive with our goals,” Amarpreet Kalkat, co-founder of Frrole told Techcrunch.
Frrole was earlier a part of Microsoft Ventures Accelerator’s 2013 winter programme.
