launches ethnic, Indo-western wear products for women has recently expanded its fashion and lifestyle category by launching ethinic, Indo-western wear for women. The idea is to continue expanding its reach among Indian online shoppers.

The news has however come in line after one of the leading eCommerce player in India, Flipkart engages in talks to acquire Myntra – which could be one of the largest merger in the history of Indian eCommerce market.

As part of the deal, the eCommerce portal is providing a 30 percent discount on all purchases among these new categories. The discount could be seen at the final point of checkout.

“With the launch of women’s ethnic apparel and sunglasses, we now offer our women customers, the season’s hottest fashion picks at their fingertips. With our vast selection of fashion products’ line, trend insights, customized product recommendations in addition to our quick and fast delivery services and easy returns policy, women now have enough reasons to shop till they drop on,” Vikas Purohit, Category Leader- Fashion, Amazon India, told The Hindu Business line, which first reported the news.


Amazon launched its marketplace in India on June 5th with books category and within 20 days has launched electronics and Kindle selections showcasing its keen approach to take on eCommerce in India by expanding fast.

Given that robust learning about the Indian market combined with Amazon’s global experience in fashion eCommerce for years, has turned out to be a significant competitor in this space. The company, earlier in January launched its second fulfilment center in India – to ensure a fast product delivery service.
