Google Glass set to go trendy with Rayban deal

Google has recently inked a deal with Italian eyewear maker, Luxottica Group SPA, owner of Ray-Ban and Oakley brands, reports TOI. The company will develop frames equipped with Google Glass, thereby making it more stylish and trendy.

To date, more than 10, 000 people have used google glass, under the Explorer program. However, it has not yet able to generate a mass appeal. The move is thus in direction to broaden the people’s mindset towards it.

“Google has opened up a new potential opportunity of use of glasses,” said Andrea Guerra, chief executive of Luxottica, in an interview to WSJ.

There are also plans to sell Glass in Luxottica’s 5000 US stores, once it gets available for general public. Although not officially said, the peculators are expecting the mass roll out by the end of this year.

Previously, Google has also rolled out four frame styles that could also be outfitted with prescription lenses. The other financials of the deal and the price of the Luxottica line of Glass is yet to be disclosed.
