Yahoo acquires diary-apps maker Wander

Wander, a New-York based startup has recently been acquired by Yahoo. The terms of the deal were not officially disclosed, but as per Reuters, it could be as much as USD 10 million.

Post the acquisition, Wander’s five people team will join Yahoo’s mobile and emerging products division in its New York City offices.

“Our entire team will be joining Yahoo’s NYC-based Mobile and Emerging Products group, where we’ll continue on as a startup team within a larger organization. The Days app will live on as a standalone entity, and we’ll also be working on some exciting new projects that we can’t talk about just yet.” announced the company.

Launched in 2012, Wander has managed to raise USD 1.2 million the same year.

The company’s famous diary-like blogging app Days, allows users to curate photos and gifs into a post that users can share and follow further. Post acquisition, the app will continue to function as a standalone product, Wander says on its blog post.

Talking of the idea behind, the acquisition deal seems to serve as another “acqui-hire” for Yahoo, in effort to boost its engineering talent. Moreover, with curated photo content being on the rise, Wander’s team could turn out to be an asset for Yahoo! in building other apps that could generate insight into how people spend their day through the medium of photographs.
