Jaipur based eLearning startup CultureAlley has recently been announced as a part of the global accelerator, 500 startup’s 8th batch. The new class will include 28 companies from countries including Spain, France, Canada, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Brazil, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Also, there are participants from cities including Las Vegas, Austin, NYC, and Detroit.
Founded in 2012, the company offers platform for learning languages such as Hindi, Spanish and Chinese. It hosts intuitive audio-visual lessons & practice widgets on a bandwidth friendly cloud-based platform. The portal uses student’s performance data to personalize the revision & practice schedule for each learner. It also offers Live chat & 1on1 Skype lessons with expert coaches.
Till date, the startup has served over 2.1 Mn minutes of engaging content, enabling approx. 350,000 (155,000 on site, rest on YouTube) learners across 220+ countries to upgrade from ‘bland’ & ‘static’ modes of learning. In mid 2013, the startup has also raised an undisclosed amount from Kae Capital for product development.
All selected startups will get an office space as well as access to mentors at 500 startups’ new San Francisco office in the city’s SOMA district.
In an another event, the accelerator also added two more venture partners, Sean Percival and Marvin Liao. Sean is the co-founder of lalawag and Wittlebee and has been associated as VP of Online Marketing at Myspace. He is also the founder of Bitcoin news site BubbleCoin. Marvin, on the other hand has spent significant years at Yahoo. At 500 startup’s, he will be finding interesting startups and will be helping out with the Accelerator program in Mountain View and San Francisco.
