The Tencent’s messaging app, WeChat has recently announced partnership with AskMe from Getit Infomedia with the launch of ‘Official Account – AskMeSearch’.
Official Accounts is a feature that will provide brands with an opportunity to connect and interact with their audience through a one-on-one communication and services engagement.
AskMe will provide WeChat users with online information on SMEs across local search, deals and classifieds. Also, they will now be able to get feature classifieds on vehicles, mobile, property and jobs.
With this deal, Getit Infomedia’s CEO Jaspreet Bindra is looking forward to strengthen their understanding of SME & customer demands and needs.
In addition, the company also launched WeChat Games with version 5.1 release. There are 4 games which have been rolled out – ‘GunZ Dash’, ‘2Day’s Match’, ‘Craz3 Match’ & ‘Pencil Pilot’.
Users can discover the games on WeChat and can download on their Smartphones separately from the respective platform App stores. WeChat first launched a beta version of its online multi-player game LinkLink in mid 2013.
“Enhancements in WeChat version 5.1 such as capability to increase group chat members to 100 and release of ‘StoryCam for WeChat’ means that there is never a boring moment in an Indian youth’s life using WeChat”, said Mr. Nilay Arora, Vice-President, Marketing & Business Development, 10c India Internet Private Ltd.
The games are also enabled with location based services, by which the users can challenge their nearby friends and other users on WeChat. Users can also buy add-on items though in-app purchases to bolster their in-game capabilities.
WeChat competes with other instant messaging apps like Whatsapp, BBM, Viber, Line, etc. Line was the first app which had introduced games on its platforms and has more than 150 cumulative downloads of games on its social gaming platform. KakaoTalk yet another similar app has introduced games in 2012.
