The mobile app enables volunteers from across the country to participate in the open forums and share their ideas/thoughts on upcoming speeches by Narendra Modi.Users can moreover contribute towards tasks that can be done through mobile phones including sharing pictures from rallies, sharing clippings of popular news stories, blogs etc.

The idea is to consolidate the mandate received in the recent state assembly elections and build an interest level of general public in favour of the party.

The app also allows volunteers to connect with other volunteers and members of their respective parliamentary constituency. One can even share latest updates through prominent mediums of social media including Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp.

Launched in August 2013, India 272 is an online and on-ground volunteering platform to help the BJP party gain a 272+ seat majority in the 545 seat Lok Sabha.

Modi has always welcomed and encouraged the use of internet technology to encourage people’s interest in BJP. While launching the app he expressed confidence giving an impression that it will go a long way to help BJP get more volunteers. He further added that he has gained immensely from the feedback received from the volunteers and he looks forward to receiving more such feedback in the coming days
