Bangalore based Hacker Earth all set to compete at Seedstars World Final Competition in Switzerland

Hacker Earth, a Bangalore based startup has recently been announced as the winner of the Seedstars World’s (SSW) regional pitching events. The team of Hacker Earth will now get an opportunity to compete with the other regional winners from Russia, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America at the Grand Final in Switzerland on February 4th to win a $500k equity investment.

Founded in October 2012, hacker Earth is an initiative of alumni from IITRoorkee, Sachin Gupta and Vivek Prakash. This startup provides a recruiting solution that combines an applicant tracking system with a skill assessment engine to help companies prevent wrong hires and reduce time wasted in interviews. It was also selected by GSF Accelerator in its inaugural batch of five startups in 2012.

The SSW team with the help of regional partners staged pitching events in 20 cities including seven cities in Asia viz. Bangalore, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo.

Up to 100 startups applied per country, through an invitation-only registration process, and only up to 20 per event were selected by Seedstars World with the support of their partners and international experts, to pitch their ideas.

The final competition of Seedstars World will take place in two stages in Switzerland. The 20 selected startups will go first to Lausanne to participate in a 2-days bootcamp at EPFL university to learn how to perfect their pitches. Accelerators including the Singapore-based Business Strategy consultancy Galixo will coach and mentor the finalists.

The semi-final will be held at the MBA school, IMD and the 5 finalists will present their pitch to international Jury comprising of entrepreneur and investors such as  Alex Farcet, Stefan Glänzer, Martin Velasco, Hendrik Brandis, Colin Turner, Marco Corradino and Pierre- Alain Masson (co-founder of Seedstars World).
