It seems that Marissa Mayer, since her joining the Yahoo team, has made her mind to acquire as many companies possible this year only. As the year approaches its end, Yahoo has again made a move to acquire another video startup, QuikIO, as revealed from the shut down notice on the company’s web page. The acquisition report first came in news through Pandodaily.
QuikIO, launched in 2012 is a Mountain View, CA based video streaming service, being marketed as FedEx of media files. It allows users to instantly stream, send videos, music, photos, and documents to any iPhone and iPad.
The deal amount as well as other details regarding terms of acquisition remain undisclosed.
Post acquisition, three employees of QuikIO will be joining the Yahoo team which includes company founders, CEO Chen and VP of engineering Xumin Wu (as updated on his linkedin profile). However, the third name is still not disclosed.
The acquisition of QuikIO is followed after its recent took over of Ptch, a mobile video app startup.
