A few years back Google had launched a smart tv in collaboration with Sony, Intel and Logitech, that failed to gain much traction to survive. And now, according to speculations by theinformation, in order to re-enter the television market, Google is developing an Android-powered set top box called Nexus TV.
The device will allow users to stream videos from Netflix, Hulu and YouTube, and it is rumoured to support games as well. Nexus TV will be possibly launched in the first half of the year 2014. Although Google TV runs on Android OS as well, it hasn’t gained any attention from people around the world even after 3 years of its launch, it will be interesting to see if this TV streaming device from Google will make a difference.
It has to be mentioned here, that Google’s other television device Chromecast is doing pretty well as a video streaming dongle. It already offers the platforms, Nexus TV is rumoured to support. So what is the company upto now? Write your views in the comments
