Google extends GOSF by another day due to overwhelming response

It seems nothing can dampen the spirits of shopaholics this season, during the second edition of Google’s Great Online Shopping Festival. Due to an overwhelming response from shoppers, with over a million people flocking to the GOSF website in less that 24 hours, Google has announced that GOSF will now go on till December 14 instead of ending on December 13 as previously planned.

#GOSF extended by 1 day. But that’s only half the news. Now, win a Nexus 7 every hour by telling us why you deserve a deal. #GOSFDeal

Even though the site had crashed initially on the first day of the festival, delaying the launch, it seems to have more than made up for that in its second day. Most of the eCommerce firms participating in the event have reported a phenomenal increase in sales.

According to reports, has seen more than 10x sales as compared to last year. Jabong reports an increase in revenue of up to 4-5 times more than a usual day. Traffic is upto twice the normal days and revenue upto 3.5 times for Myntra.

Further, the buzz only seems to be heightening right now, with the new GOSFdeal competition that Google is running, asking for user responses on why they wish for a deal. Twiter is flooded with tweets from people hoping to win the competition.

In the spirit of the holiday season, if I got a #GOSFDeal on the nexus7, I would gift it to a loved one who needs it. #GOSF

Some shoppers still continue to raise questions about the jacking up of prices before offering a discount, or the deals not being anything out of the ordinary but most seem intent on making the most of online shopping this GOSF. And the extra day will surely give them more time and lighter wallets.
