Delhi based Portea Medical raises USD 8 million from Accel Partners and Ventureast

Untitled-1 copyPortea Medical, a Delhi based in-home healthcare and emergency medical services company has reportedly raised USD 8 million from Accel Partners and Ventureast in return for 30% stake.

As part of the deal, Mahendran Balachandran, partner at Accel Partners, and Venkatadri Bobba, general partner at Ventureast, will join Portea’s board of directors.

The startup offers in-home healthcare services like physiotherapy, nursing, attendant or home health aide, doctor visits and others.

Focused on building the domestic home healthcare market supported by advanced diagnostic and remote monitoring technology, Portea Medical currently operates in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi/NCR and Mumbai with plans to launch in Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Pune.

Founded by Zachary Jones and Karan Aneja in 2012, Portea Medical was acquired by a husband and wife duo Krishna and Meena Ganesh in July who earlier had a series of successful exits including the sale of TutorVista, a Bangalore based online tutoring Company. TutorVista was sold to Pearson for over USD 200 million.
