matrix-invest-trafflineBirds Eye Systems Private Limited, which offers real-time traffic and travel information for Indian cities through a variety of mobile and internet channels under the Traffline brand, has raised Series A funding from Matrix Partners India. The amount has been left undisclosed.

“We’re investing to expand the product to 10 cities in India and multiple transport modes in a short timeframe”, said Vikram Vaidyanathan, Director, Matrix Partners India.

Currently, Traffline offers real time traffic updates for Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. The Mumbai based startup also offers services such as a call center in Mumbai to offer live updates to those commuters who are not using any traffic app, and provides traffic updates in text format too.

The company partners with private players, Government, police, public transport utilities and its users to ensure that information is real-time. “We aim to own the everyday door-to-door travel and information space on mobile, be it private vehicles, public transport, or local businesses, across major Indian cities” said Brijraj Vaghani and Ravi Khemani, co-founders, Birds Eye Systems Private Limited.

The company had previously raised INR 2 Cr from Indian Angel Network (IAN) in 2012, as a result of which IAN members Rajiv Dadlani and Nitin Agarwal had joined the board.

Matrix partners India, on the other hand, is an investment firm that invests in companies targeting the Indian consumer market at the seed, early and early growth stages. The firm has invested in companies such as Verse/Newshunt, U2opia, Twist Mobile, Mswipe, Quikr, Stayzilla etc.
